The standard ride: Friday mornings.
We start here at the shop, leaving at AM. Typical pace mph, with a couple of mini races along the way. Back at the shop by No one gets dropped, and all are welcome. Heavy rain cancels. Not much daylight, and not much interest in riding on Friday mornings!
For now, the ride is not officially happening.

She also managed to contract some bronchial infection that has since spread to my wife and me--thanks, Kaia! So no Friday ride this Friday the 3rd. I hope to have a new road bike by next Friday the 10thso maybe we can get out and I can show off then.
This Friday's ride is cancelled--I'll be resting up for the 24 hour mountain bike race the next day. Wish me luck! Meet there at AM, and I'll be riding to the shop afterwards for my shift. Come get dirty! Much better than my last trip there, when I broke a rib!
The weather is looking bad for tomorrow's ride. If there are any storms on the radar atthe ride is off. If the radar is clean, then the ride is on! Meet at BGI atback by 9. It was pretty dark at 7 AM, so I'm going to push the start time back to Still back by 9. Come ride next Friday! Rides have still been going on.
Tomorrow Friday I'm going to ride at Town Run. Meet at Town Run at 7 AM, not at the shop. I'll be riding down to BGI afterwards. Next week we'll meet at the same time and place, but we'll do the Fort Ben loop and get some short steep hills done. us, us!

The ride is happening, but I'm not. I can't wait to tell Kaia my first story about all the pain and suffering and not-riding-bikes that I endured in order to raise her. I hope she realizes that I'm full of crap. Anyway, Adam and Patrick and some others will be doing the ride at 7 AM.

We saw a couple of new faces and the return of some summer employees. I still can't win a sprint, which is a little disconcerting, and unfortunately that trend will continue this week, because the ride is off. They'll ride downtown to the circle, where there will be breakfast and celebration, and then some of them will ride back up here to the shop for work. in, ride to work, do what you like.

Next Friday, I'll be subjecting my six-month-old daughter to a ten-hour car trip to Minnesota for the Carleton College ultimate frisbee alumni weekend. Don't laugh; we take it really seriously. Thankfully, that issue is just about moot. I don't have any doubt about my ability to ride in rain and cold. That's what I was made for. Unfortunately, my rain 'n' cold riding last fall was curtailed by my broken foot and my daughter's birth. But it's spring now, and it's time to get some miles in.
So we'll be doing the standard ride on Friday the 10th. We might need lights for the first few miles. Come on out and test those legs! Meet him at the shop at 7 AM, and you'll be back by 9. Time to take some calcium pills and go buy some more books. If you don't read Zadie Smith, you need to. The Friday ride is happening intermittently; just be sure to call the shop on Thursday to verify that someone will be there.
Hopefully I'll be cleared to ride, and be able to squeeze some rides in before it gets too cold. Who am I kidding--it never gets too cold! At least I don't have to worry about overtraining.

I got stung by a jellyfish on my other foot minor, but annoying. My injured foot wasn't getting better, so I went to the doctor, and apparently I have this going on in my foot:. So I get to wear a boot for three weeks, which means the Friday ride is officially done for a while.
